THE OPPORTUNITY
You’re a Structural Engineer working in the buildings sector and you want more than just delivery work. You want to take ownership, be trusted on projects, and develop within a team that is growing and well respected in the market. At Stantec, you’ll join a collaborative Structural Engineering team in either Glasgow or Edinburgh, working across a broad mix of sectors and projects. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary environment where structures sit alongside Civil, MEP, Environmental, Energy and Water expertise, giving you exposure to the full picture, not just your discipline.
ABOUT THE ROLE
You will take a hands-on role in delivering building structures across multiple sectors, working closely with clients and internal teams to bring designs from concept through to construction. You’ll design and coordinate structural solutions using a range of materials, ensuring integration with wider project inputs and maintaining a consistent, high-quality output. You’ll be involved in discussions with clients and stakeholders, helping to communicate design decisions and resolve challenges as projects progress. You’ll also engage during construction, reviewing contractor designs, carrying out site visits, and responding to queries. Alongside technical delivery, you’ll begin to build experience in project and team coordination, contributing to planning resources, reviewing deliverables, and supporting the commercial performance of projects.
YOUR IMPACT
You’ll play a key role in shaping building projects that directly impact communities across the UK. From education and healthcare through to residential, commercial and energy schemes, your work will influence how projects are designed, delivered, and experienced. As you develop, you’ll move beyond pure design into broader project ownership—building confidence with clients, contributing to team development, and playing a part in how projects are delivered commercially and technically. This is a role where your influence will grow as your experience does.
ABOUT YOU
- Degree qualified in Structural or Civil Engineering (BEng/MEng or equivalent)
- Experience delivering building structures, with strong design and analytical capability
- Comfortable working with a range of construction materials
- Working towards professional accreditation or keen to progress in that direction
