The Opportunity
Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Civil Engineer in our Bristol office, where you will help grow a local civil engineering team delivering water projects across the South West and nationally. As a Graduate Civil Engineer, you will be integrated with our wider civil team across the South West, working on both local and national projects. You will collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines, hydraulic modellers and CAD technicians to turn ideas into real-world solutions. Stantec is involved in multiple AMP8 frameworks across the UK water sector, supporting water companies to solve real-world challenges brought on by climate change. Our work helps secure safe, clean drinking water for communities and improve water quality in rivers and streams by supporting clients to meet evolving regulations and compliance requirements. Projects include pumping stations, pipelines, treatment works and wider infrastructure improvements for water company clients.
About The Role
Working as part of a friendly and collaborative project team, with support from Senior and Principal Civil Engineers, you will help solve engineering problems and support the delivery of civil design work from concept through to detailed design and construction. Your core responsibilities include:
- Supporting a civil design team to solve problems for clients.
- Completing calculations, reports, design sketches and presentations to meet client programmes and design milestones.
- Supporting work from concept through to detailed design and construction.
- Assisting with technical site visits and gaining practical insight into the delivery of water infrastructure projects.
- Helping coordinate design work with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, structural and hydraulic disciplines.
- Working with hydraulic modellers and CAD technicians to help turn ideas into practical engineering solutions.
- Developing your technical capability and understanding of the water sector through project work, mentoring and training.
We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. The professional progression plan for this role will support you towards ICE chartership.
Your Impact
This role will help deliver better outcomes for communities and the environment by supporting projects that address some of the biggest challenges facing the UK water sector. Your work will contribute to safe, clean drinking water, improved river and stream water quality, regulatory compliance and resilient infrastructure that responds to climate change. Please note, we ask our graduates to come into the office 4 days per week, to ensure that you receive sufficient time with your team and receive the appropriate level of support.
