As a Senior Mechanical Engineer within our South of England Water team, you will be leading the design of mechanical systems that ensure water security and environmental resilience for water companies across the UK and Ireland.

Whether you choose to base yourself in Brighton, Ashford, Kings Hill, or Southampton, you are joining a consultancy at the peak of its growth, offering you a high-visibility platform to sharpen your expertise and lead complex, multi-million-pound frameworks. You will be involved in the full project life cycle, from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design and construction support, including site surveys and investigations. This will mean leading mechanical design for infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects, including water/wastewater treatment plants, conveyance systems, pumping stations and more.

You will work closely with project managers, technical leaders, design engineers, clients, supply chain partners, contractors, planners and other stakeholders to deliver positive project outcomes. You will also be involved in the mentorship and guidance of more junior engineers within the team.

About You

You will be an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject, ideally holding Chartership (or be on route to Chartership), with experience in mechanical design. Your experience will include producing technical outputs such as design specifications, sizing and designing pumping systems and aeration systems, schedules, reports and familiarity with collaborative planning reviews and designs of solutions.

You will be able to provide engineering input design outputs in collaboration with other disciplines, such as General Arrangement Drawings, 3D models and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams. Finally, experience of mentoring junior engineers or managing a Mechanical team will be advantageous, though not essential to the role.
