The Opportunity

Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Electrical Engineer in our Birmingham office, where you will be part of a market-leading Buildings discipline.

You'll join a local team of approximately 15 MEP engineers in Birmingham, forming part of a national network of more than 200 professionals across the UK. While our primary focus is supporting clients across the West Midlands, we also deliver projects in London and other major cities for a range of key clients. Our work spans both dedicated MEP commissions and large multidisciplinary projects, giving you the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, and other specialist disciplines. This breadth of exposure provides an excellent environment for developing your technical skills and understanding of integrated design. We service a national framework for a major hard FM provider, across justice and healthcare sectors, as well as residential, commercial, industrial and energy projects.

About The Role

  • Supporting the delivery of MEP projects through the development of mechanical and electrical building services designs.
  • Assisting with the coordination of designs across disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Undertaking engineering calculations using industry-standard software tools.
  • Contributing to the preparation of technical specifications, reports, and design documentation.
  • Producing and developing 3D designs and models using BIM and related design software.
  • Collaborating with colleagues and clients to help deliver high-quality, sustainable engineering solutions.

We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. The applicable professional qualification for this role is IEng or CEng status with the CIBSE, IET or ImechE.

Your Impact

This role will help create high-quality, sustainable and resilient buildings that deliver positive outcomes for communities and the environment. Working across a range of projects, you will support the design and delivery of safe, efficient and future-ready buildings, helping clients reduce environmental impact, enhance building performance and create spaces that improve the wellbeing of those who use them. Your work will contribute to sustainable development goals, support the efficient use of resources, and help deliver innovative solutions that meet the needs of both clients and local communities.

About You

At Stantec, we value your potential over past experience. Along with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering related discipline, a knowledge of Microsoft packages, and a keen interest in working in the Buildings sector, you'll be:

  • An Adapter - You’re able to remain calm in new and changing situations, comfortably switching between a variety of dynamic and exciting tasks.
  • A Perseverer - You stay composed in the face of setbacks, approaching challenges with confidence and determination.
  • An Eager Learner - You learn from your experiences and the world around you, using this knowledge to anticipate how situations may unfold.
  • A Collaborator - You work effectively with lots of different people, considering others’ perspectives to shape better outcomes.
  • A Problem-Solver - You love to give your thoughts based on what you see, being unafraid to challenge conventional thinking.

Please note, we ask our graduates to come into the office 4 days per week, to ensure that you receive sufficient time with your team and receive the appropriate level of support. Applicants must have an unconditional right to live and work in the UK for an indefinite period without limitation.
