Overview

The Opportunity

We currently seek Archaeology and Heritage Consultants to join the team in our Reading or Bristol offices (other southern England offices may also be considered) to help deliver technical advice and reports with a focus on our major water, highways and infrastructure clients. This is an exciting opportunity to join a global sustainable engineering, architecture, and environmental consultancy expanding in the UK. You will work within professional, collaborative and multi-disciplinary teams all with the same aim of delivering world-class solutions for our clients and the communities around us. You will be part of providing high-quality historic environment consultancy advice and delivering technical documents for small to nationally essential schemes.

As an Archaeology and Heritage Consultant, you will provide advice, risk analysis and research for a range of schemes, both permitted and those requiring planning consent. You will provide guidance to clients as well as internal colleagues. You will prepare and contribute towards various technical documents, including Screenings, Technical Advice Notes, Historic Environment Desk-Based Assessments, Setting Assessments, and Environmental Impact Assessments. This will involve reviewing HER data and other digital data sets, preparing figures, conducting site walkovers and archive visits, reviewing aerial photographs and LiDAR, and writing reports.

Under the guidance of senior colleagues, the role will also involve consulting with stakeholders to discuss and agree on evaluation and mitigation strategies and the subsequent management of archaeological fieldwork carried out by subcontractors. The Senior Consultant will lead on and manage small-to medium-sized projects.

About You

You will be a highly motivated individual with a passion for and sound multi-period knowledge of Britain\'s archaeology and heritage and relevant legislation, planning policy and guidance. You will also have:

  • professional consultancy experience with excellent report writing skills and preferably GIS experience
  • experience of archaeological fieldwork
  • membership of CIfA at Associate level (or above)
  • Full clean UK driver\\\'s licence
