The Opportunity

Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Geo-Environmental / Geo-Technical Engineer in either our Reading or London office, where you will be part of our multidisciplinary Environmental Services team.

About The Role

As a Graduate Geo-Environmental / Geo-Technical Engineer, you will work on a diverse and exciting range of projects across key sectors, including renewables, defence, commercial, and residential developments. The role offers an excellent balance between hands-on, on-site tasks and office-based consultancy work. Our geo team collaborates closely with integrated project teams and other disciplines across Stantec—including Civils, Structural, Transport, Air Quality, Acoustics, and Flood Risk—to support clients seamlessly through the planning and construction process. You will benefit from strong support from office and technical colleagues, as well as significant mentorship from senior leaders within our open and collaborative culture.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, scoping, and managing site investigations, including on-site supervision, soil and rock logging, and environmental sampling.
  • Analysing field data and authoring comprehensive factual and interpretative reports.
  • Conducting qualitative and quantitative geo-environmental and geotechnical risk assessments to support site development and remediation.
  • Providing expert geo advice throughout the design, planning, and construction phases on multidisciplinary schemes.

We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. We will provide a structured professional progression plan supporting you to achieve professional chartership status (CGeol, CEng, CSci, or CEnv) with relevant bodies such as The Geological Society of London (GSL), the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), the Institute of Environmental Sciences (IES), and the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM).

Your Impact

In this role, your mix of fieldwork and technical consultancy will directly help clients navigate complex ground conditions and environmental requirements across critical national sectors. Working as part of an integrated team, your input will ensure sustainable land use, support renewable energy infrastructure, and deliver high-quality outcomes for local communities.

About You

At Stantec, we value your potential over past experience. Along with a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Earth Sciences, or Environmental Science that is accredited by a relevant professional body (such as The Geological Society, ICE, IES, or CIWEM), you will be:

  • A Perseverer – You stay composed in the face of setbacks, approaching challenges with confidence and determination.
  • An Adapter – You’re able to remain calm in new and changing situations, comfortably switching between a variety of dynamic and exciting tasks.
  • A Focused Individual – You focus on what matters, tuning out distractions to perform effectively in any situation.
  • A Collaborator – You work effectively with lots of different people, considering others’ perspectives to shape better outcomes.
  • An Eager Learner – You learn from your experiences and the world around you, using this knowledge to anticipate how situations may unfold.

Please note, we ask our graduates to come into the office 4 days per week, to ensure that you receive sufficient time with your team and receive the appropriate level of support. Applicants must have an unconditional right to live and work in the UK for an indefinite period without limitation.

Why Join Us?

  • A competitive salary
  • Private medical insurance
