About the Role

Senior Principal or Technical Specialist leading technical work within the Environmental Water Quality Team at Stantec. The role involves flexibility on location for the right candidate.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying pollution sources and developing solutions across urban and natural catchments.
  • Managing complex multi-disciplinary programmes.
  • Mentoring junior staff.
  • Collaborating closely with project managers to ensure successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading technical work on water quality projects across the UK and Ireland.
  • Managing and delivering complex, multi-disciplinary programmes including WINEP studies, marine or inland water quality modelling, storm overflow investigations and catchment risk assessments.
  • Mentoring junior team members and fostering knowledge transfer.
  • Working with clients in the water, energy and infrastructure sectors to identify pollution pathways and receptors.
  • Integrating with expertise across urban and natural environments to help clients achieve sustainable and efficient environmental performance.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
  • At least ten years of experience in the water industry, with well-established relationships within the sector.
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering challenging projects that assess and mitigate environmental impacts of wastewater assets.
  • Strong knowledge of UK environmental quality legislation and frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to engage with clients, regulators and industry colleagues.
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills – clarity, adaptability, collaboration and an outcome-driven mindset.
