We are seeking an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design and delivery for flood and coastal engineering projects, based in Cambridge or Bristol.
Responsibilities
- Lead day‑to‑day technical delivery of mechanical design services on multi-disciplinary pumping station and water control projects.
- Oversee the production of high‑quality design deliverables, including specifications, drawings, and schedules.
- Mentor junior team members, including graduates and apprentices, and support their career development.
- Apply and manage BIM processes and tools, including Revit.
- Work closely with and manage contractors and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of structural, civil, flood risk and mechanical engineers.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Senior Mechanical/Principal Mechanical Engineer in the UK, ideally with a track record across water and flood defence sectors.
- Relevant qualification (HNC, HND, Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience supporting, developing or mentoring junior colleagues.
- Strong collaboration mindset and experience working across multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of BIM processes, Revit and related tools.
