Develop and lead the HV Substation design team for electrical power systems and associated power system components. Lead FEED design and detailed design for substation refurbishment/extensions and new-build projects. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and contribute to project delivery strategies.
Coach and develop the wider T&D team; stay engaged with the engineering community to drive client value and innovative solutions. The main function of the role is to develop and lead the HV team for electrical substation design projects. This involves working closely with other disciplines and leading the FEED design and detailed design for substation refurbishment/extensions and new-build projects.
The candidate will ideally have wide knowledge of the transmission and distribution sector, with experience working with key T&D clients in the UK. Pro-active in building knowledge and understanding of the electricity transmission and distribution industry. Capable of coaching and developing the T&D team; able to share knowledge and promote ideas while valuing all contributions. Able to develop innovative and practical solutions, understanding how issues fit into larger solutions.
Chartered Engineer (IET) preferred; hold experience as a Contractor Design Approval Engineer (CDAE) as defined by National Grid's TP137 procedure, or equivalent; TP141 HV Substation qualification is an advantage. A relevant Degree in electrical engineering is essential. Extensive experience in design and specification production for HV Substation plant electrical power systems and associated components.
