Senior / Principal Water Quality Modeller – UK
We are looking for an experienced Senior / Principal Water Quality Modeller to join our multidisciplinary team at a UK office, focusing on coastal and estuarine environments.
The role involves working with water companies across the UK and Ireland and a wider stakeholder community to develop sustainable wastewater and environmental solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Scope, collect data, develop, execute, and present multidimensional environmental water quality models.
- Simulate the behaviour of reservoirs, lakes (Loughs and Lochs), transitional, and coastal waters.
- Identify pollution sources, pathways, and impacts on sensitive receptors.
- Develop engineered and nature‑based solutions.
- Engage with a broad range of stakeholders, liaise with clients, and collaborate with multidisciplinary business groups.
Qualifications & Experience
- Extensive experience in 2D/3D hydrodynamic and water quality modelling.
- Knowledge of numerical modelling equations and discretisation, 2D mesh generation.
- Proficient with software such as MIKE, Delft3D, and Telemac.
- Experience in modelling hydrodynamics, multiphase flows, particle tracking, advection‑dispersion, water quality, and chemical processes.
- Basic understanding of physicochemical water quality and oceanography.
- Understanding of regulatory standards for fresh and/or marine waters.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; confidence to liaise with stakeholders.
- Working towards or attained chartered membership in a relevant professional institution.
