Step into a pivotal role as a Principal Mechanical Engineer within Stantec's South of England Water team. You will lead the design of mechanical systems that support water security and environmental resilience for water companies across the UK and Ireland. This role focuses on technical mastery, asset lifecycle processes, and mentoring within a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design of mechanical systems and ensure they are innovative and robust.
- Own the process from initial feasibility studies and optioneering through to detailed design and on-site construction support.
- Conduct deep-dive site surveys and investigations to inform deliverable plans for projects and programmes.
- Provide engineering input and design outputs in collaboration with other disciplines, including General Arrangement Drawings, 3D models, and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams.
- Mentor junior engineers or manage a mechanical team where applicable.
- Act as a primary technical conduit between project managers, supply chain partners, and contractors to translate requirements into real-world outcomes.
- Contribute to delivering technical excellence and market insights in line with Stantec’s water projects.
Qualifications
- Engineer with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject.
- Ideally chartered or on the route to Chartership.
- Experience in mechanical design and producing technical outputs such as design specifications, sizing and designing pumping and aeration systems, schedules, and reports.
- Ability to provide engineering input and outputs in collaboration with other disciplines; experience with General Arrangement Drawings, 3D models, and P&ID diagrams.
- Mentoring junior engineers or managing a mechanical team is advantageous but not essential.
