We are seeking a Natural Capital or Environmental Economist to join our team, with flexibility on location and the potential to work with various clients across the UK. You will deliver high‑quality economic support services for clients in the water sector and, on occasion, support projects in energy, community development and transport sectors. Your expertise will provide specialist economic and multi‑capital input to projects relating to sustainability, regulation, carbon management, life cycle analysis, climate change, natural and social benefits, and resilience.
Responsibilities
- Natural capital accounting and six‑capitals approaches
- Ecosystem services valuation
- Economic inputs into Environmental Social Governance
- Social Value Measurement and Wellbeing Valuation
- Green finance and creating a market for nature‑based solutions
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant first/post‑degree qualification in environmental economics or a closely related subject; a higher degree (e.g., Masters) is an asset.
- Professional qualification as an Environmental or Natural Capital Economist.
- Strong grasp of UK and international environmental legislation, especially in the water sector (experience not essential).
- Technical expertise in cost‑benefit assessment or natural capital accounting.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary projects, manage contracts, and drive efficiency through innovation and the digital agenda.
- Commercial acumen to contribute to proposals, develop strategic solutions and navigate climate‑change impact and risk assessments.
- Strong numerical, analytical and communication skills.
- Adaptability, creative problem‑solving and the ability to work within multidisciplinary teams, forging new working relationships with clients and stakeholders.
