Overview
Regional Commercial Lead – Major Projects (UK Water) to join our Major Projects Team. This national role can be based in any UK office and involves leading commercial & risk performance management, challenging conventional thinking, and fostering a collaborative culture within the leadership group. The role supports expansion of the Major Projects portfolio across the UK while ensuring healthy, profitable, and sustainable business growth and effective risk management.
Responsibilities
- Provide commercial leadership to the leadership group, inspiring and motivating the team to deliver best practice in commercial & risk performance management.
- Oversee the commercial elements of bids and significant standalone Major Projects; develop competitive commercial proposals with partner organisations; align with business objectives and provide opportunities for outperformance.
- Develop and implement strong, controlled commercial strategies with Regional Directors, Major Projects Market Area Lead, other Commercial Leads, and the Senior Leadership Team to enable sustainable growth.
- Build and maintain relationships with Client and Partner Commercial Leads; review performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and serve as a key escalation route for Major Project issues.
- Demonstrate visible Health & Safety leadership through participation in performance indicators to protect staff, clients, partners, and the public.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the UK Water business to ensure a healthy, profitable Major Projects portfolio and effective risk management.
- Travel as required in a national role and contribute to our collaborative, people-oriented culture.
About You / Qualifications
- Ideally qualified with a relevant degree and experienced Commercial Lead with solid understanding of working with professional services teams in a non-hierarchical organisation to deliver improvements and change.
- Experience in a similar consultancy environment; Design & Build experience in the regulated water sector is highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience in NEC4 contract management practices delivered through various commercial and alliance delivery models.
- Strong commercial acumen, business analysis skills, and ability to interpret and understand complex financial systems and reports.
- Ability to work with varying seniority levels, including staff, managers, and external partners; high degree of self-management, initiative, reliability and flexibility.
- Willingness to travel as required (national role).
