As we move into AMP 8 and continue with our growth plans across the UK & Ireland, we’re interested in hearing expressions of interest from Heritage Consultants that are looking for their next career opportunity in the coming weeks and months. Stantec UK is looking to recruit Archaeological Consultants at a range of stages of their career to join our team of heritage professionals within the Environmental Assessment team across the UK with a focus on our major water, highways and infrastructure clients. We are working in partnership with a wide variety of stakeholders to develop innovative, sustainable and efficient solutions to their needs by applying genuinely new ways of working. Responsibilities

  • Playing an important role in our highly integrated Archaeology and Heritage team.
  • Depending on your experience and skills you may undertake client liaison, negotiation with LPA archaeological/heritage advisors, project management, risk analysis, data searches, research, mapping and archaeology and heritage screening and desk‑based assessments for a wide range of schemes.
  • You will undertake and be part of the provision of high‑quality historic environment consultancy advice and formulation of archaeological and heritage site mitigation strategies for small through to nationally important schemes.
  • The scope of your work will vary greatly with new challenges presenting themselves regularly.

Qualifications

  • You will have a degree in archaeology or a heritage‑related subject.
  • Ideally, you will be a corporate member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists and/or Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) or working towards it within twelve months of appointment.
  • You will have sound multi‑period knowledge of the British archaeological resource and the UK's legislative, consultancy and national planning policy framework.
  • You will have excellent report‑writing skills and preferably experience with GIS.
