We're looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our Water team based in London, High Wycombe, Reading, Brighton or Southampton. This is an opportunity to lead the delivery of complex EICA projects while working alongside recognised industry specialists on nationally significant programmes. You'll provide technical leadership, strengthen client relationships and help develop our growing Electrical Engineering capability within one of the UK's leading multidisciplinary consultancies.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you'll provide technical leadership across major water and wastewater infrastructure projects, ensuring high-quality EICA delivery throughout the project lifecycle. You will:
- Lead electrical and EICA design from feasibility and concept development through to detailed design and construction support.
- Provide technical oversight, governance and quality assurance across project delivery.
- Review and approve key electrical design documentation, calculations and specifications.
- Build strong relationships with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Mentor engineers, support business growth and contribute to bids and framework opportunities.
- Champion engineering best practice and continuous improvement across the discipline.

Your technical leadership will help clients deliver major investment programmes while ensuring engineering excellence across complex multidisciplinary projects. Beyond project delivery, you'll influence the future of our Electrical Engineering discipline by developing people, strengthening client partnerships and driving innovation across our growing Water business. Through your expertise, you'll help shape engineering solutions that leave a lasting legacy for both our clients and the communities they serve.
ABOUT YOU
Essential
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or equivalent experience.
- Significant experience delivering electrical or EICA design within the water sector or comparable infrastructure industries.
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering standards, technical governance and quality assurance.
- Excellent client relationship, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience mentoring and developing engineering teams.
Desirable
- Experience leading HAZOPs and multidisciplinary design reviews.
- Knowledge of DSEAR requirements and hazardous area design.
- Experience supporting bids, framework delivery or business development.
- Experience implementing digital engineering tools and modern methods of project delivery.
