We have an exciting new opportunity for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Flood and Coastal MEICA team based in our Cambridge or Bristol office.

It’s a fantastic time to become part of Stantec’s Flood and Coastal team as we continue to grow nationally! Our engineers are experts in creating high-performing, sustainable environments. We work across all flood defence infrastructure projects, from sluice gates and gravity driven solutions to refurbishment and replacement pump station projects that adheres to the Eel Regulations. The Flood and Coastal team is a small but growing group of engineers, working at the forefront of the industry. We’re delivering one of the largest pump stations in the country, with a new style of design and controls never before used in the UK. You’ll also have the opportunity to work with Clients on refurbishment and replacement projects throughout the flood defence sector, as well as collaborate with a truly multidisciplinary team of structural, civil, mechanical, and flood risk engineers. The Opportunity
You’ll be joining a highly motivated and collaborative team of engineers who are passionate about delivering sustainable, innovative solutions and who genuinely enjoy what they do. You will lead the day-to-day technical delivery of mechanical design services on multi-disciplinary pumping station and water control projects. You will oversee the production of high-quality design deliverables, including specifications, drawings, and schedules. You will mentor junior team members, including graduates and apprentices, and play a key role in their career development.
About You
You will be an experienced Senior Mechanical / Principal Mechanical Engineer with a passion for delivering sustainable solutions for your clients and will have the following:
- Proven experience as a Senior Mechanical / Principal Mechanical Engineer in the UK, ideally with a track record of delivering solutions across water and/or flood defence sectors.
- Supported, developed or mentored junior colleagues.
- Experienced with BIM processes and tools including Revit.
- Working closely with and managing Contractors.
- A collaborative mindset and experience working closely with a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications
A relevant qualification (HNC, HND, Bachelors or Masters) in Mechanical Engineering. Ideally chartered status with the IMechE or CIWEM.
