We're looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Water team in Newcastle or Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity to work on nationally significant infrastructure projects while developing your technical expertise within one of the UK's leading multidisciplinary consultancies. You'll collaborate with experienced engineers, project teams and industry specialists to deliver innovative mechanical engineering solutions across a wide range of treatment and infrastructure projects.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of water and wastewater projects, supporting successful project delivery from concept through to construction. Your responsibilities will include:
- Producing mechanical designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations and associated infrastructure.
- Preparing and reviewing technical calculations, equipment specifications and engineering documentation.
- Working collaboratively with Project Managers, multidisciplinary teams and clients throughout project delivery.
- Supporting technical reviews and identifying opportunities to improve engineering solutions.
- Providing guidance and mentoring to early career engineers and graduates.
- Contributing to the successful delivery of projects through effective communication with clients, contractors and stakeholders.

ABOUT YOU
We're looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges and delivering practical engineering solutions within collaborative multidisciplinary teams.
Essential
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/IEng) or actively working towards.
- Experience delivering mechanical engineering design within the UK water sector.
- Good understanding of mechanical systems associated with water and wastewater treatment facilities.
- Experience coordinating engineering activities as part of multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience supporting and mentoring junior engineers.
Desirable
- Experience working with contractors during project delivery.
- Experience across infrastructure and non-infrastructure water projects.
- Experience supporting framework delivery or long-term client programmes.
