If you're looking for career progression and the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects in sectors like renewables, defence, commercial, and residential, we would like to hear from you. Our Newcastle office offers a dynamic base for delivering transformative projects across the UK and beyond.

About The Role: Our geo team collaborates closely with other disciplines across Stantec to support clients through the planning and construction process. We provide expertise in design and management of site investigations, interpreting field data, producing desk based and interpretative reports, undertaking hydrogeological and geotechnical assessments and offering pre‑tender and construction phase support. We have a diverse portfolio of work, typically delivered alongside a number of our other consultancy services, including a framework agreement which covers Scotland and the North of England. Ideally, we are looking for someone who has experience working across a range of ground conditions and producing interpretative reports and is ready to take the next step in their career development as they work towards chartership.

Your Impact: In this role, you will be responsible for the design and management of site investigations (including producing health and safety documentation, on‑site supervision (including trial pitting, soil and rock core logging to BS5930:2015+A1:2020 and sampling), undertaking and reviewing geo‑environmental and geotechnical assessments, interpreting ground investigation data, and developing practical design solutions for geotechnical design and land contamination). Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will support the successful delivery of projects across sectors such as infrastructure and the built environment. You will build trusted relationships with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders, providing clear technical advice and ensuring projects are delivered to programme, budget, and quality standards. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, contribute to business development initiatives, and help drive innovation through modern analysis techniques and sustainable design approaches. This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact on major projects, develop your technical and commercial expertise and grow your career within a globally recognised consultancy committed to creating communities that thrive.

About You: Sufficient and appropriate post‑graduate experience in a consultancy or combined contractor based role. Working knowledge of relevant UK standards (e.g. BS5930 and BS10175), Industry Guidance (e.g. EA LC:RM), Eurocodes and NHBC Standards. Ability to soil and ideally core log in accordance with BS5930:2015+A1:2020. Supervision, reporting and management of geo‑environmental assignments. Scheduling chemical and geotechnical laboratory testing. Monitoring of gas and groundwater levels and groundwater sampling. Liaison with sub‑contractors and clients assisting in the delivery of projects. Technical report writing including Desk Studies, Ground Investigation Reports and Coal Mining Risk Assessments. Ability to interpret ground investigation data and produce clear, practical design recommendations. Good understanding of Health and Safety requirements for Ground Investigations. Self‑motivated team player with excellent interpersonal skills. A proactive and independent thinker with an enthusiastic approach to work. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Full UK Driving Licence. Project management skills with the ability to manage priorities, budgets and deadlines. Effective communicator with confidence liaising with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams. Commercial awareness and an understanding of delivering value to clients. Proactive approach with strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.

Qualifications: Degree qualified in Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science or a related discipline. Working towards chartership with a relevant professional institution such as the Institution of Environmental Science or the Geological Society of London.
