The Opportunity

As we move through 2026, the environmental and infrastructure challenges facing the UK have never been more complex - or more rewarding to solve. Stantec’s Environmental Services and Ground Assessment teams work at the heart of these challenges, supporting major UK infrastructure and regeneration programmes with innovative, sustainable, and practical solutions.

We are inviting Expressions of Interest from Geo-Environmental Consultants at all career stages, from early-career professionals through to Senior and Principal level specialists, who are passionate about land quality, sustainability, and delivering infrastructure that stands the test of time.

Our teams support a diverse portfolio of projects, with a strong focus on the UK water sector, working closely with long-term framework clients such as United Utilities and Yorkshire Water, alongside urban regeneration, development, and nature-based solutions projects. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering, design, and environmental teams, helping to embed land quality, carbon reduction, and biodiversity considerations across the full project lifecycle.

About the roles

  • Geo-environmental & Land Quality Assessment: Providing technical input to Phase I and Phase II investigations, materials characterisation, risk assessment, and contaminated land management.
  • Integrated Project Delivery: Working alongside infrastructure, water, and environmental teams to support sustainable design solutions, including nature-based and low‑carbon approaches.
  • Technical & Project Leadership: Managing technical delivery, supporting project and programme management, mentoring colleagues, and contributing to quality assurance.
  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Building strong relationships with clients, contractors, joint venture partners, and regulators, translating complex data into clear, actionable advice.
  • Growth & Development Opportunities: Contributing to business development, strategic growth initiatives, and diversifying your experience across Stantec’s wider UK business.

About You

We’re keen to hear from professionals who bring a mix of technical capability, curiosity, and collaborative mindset. You are likely to have:

  • A degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in land quality assessment and contaminated site management within a UK consultancy environment.
  • Working toward or holding Chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g. Geological Society, IES), with mentoring and support available.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to connect technical detail with real‑world delivery.
  • For more senior applicants, experience in technical leadership, project management, client relationships, or team mentoring.
  • An innovation‑led mindset and a desire to challenge “business as usual” to deliver better environmental outcomes.
