- Investigating the sustainability and impacts of water abstractions on the wider environment such as dependent surface water and terrestrial ecosystems.
- Developing conceptual understanding of regional aquifers and how groundwater interacts with surface water, developing numerical models to enable the regulation of groundwater abstraction.
- Determining the potential risk of national infrastructure projects on the groundwater environment.
- Designing new groundwater abstractions and monitoring boreholes infrastructure.
You will be given the opportunity to carry out technical field work as well as office-based work, developing your ability to collect and analyse data and to conceptualise and quantitatively describe hydrological systems and processes.
Examples of work carried out by graduates in our team include groundwater modelling, collecting field hydrometric data, processing data in GIS, water framework directive assessments, hydrogeological impact assessments, water quality modelling and much more.
