The Opportunity

Join our 2027 (Autumn) Graduate Programme as a Graduate Fire Engineer in our Glasgow or Edinburgh office, where you will be part of a market-leading Buildings discipline. As a Graduate Fire Engineer, you will become part of our Scotland Fire Engineering team, with colleagues based across our Glasgow and Edinburgh offices. The team comprises 13 Fire Engineers, supported by a highly experienced senior leadership team in Scotland and across the wider UK business. Our Scotland team is part of a nationally recognised Fire Engineering practice of more than 50 engineers, giving you access to a broad network of technical expertise, specialist knowledge, and development opportunities. From day one, you will collaborate with experienced professionals on a diverse range of projects whilst benefiting from structured mentoring and support to help you develop your career in fire engineering.

About The Role

As a Graduate Fire Engineer, you’ll work alongside your manager and experienced colleagues to support the delivery of fire engineering design across a diverse range of projects. You’ll contribute to early‑stage strategic design input, working on schemes within our Buildings business and across wider sectors including hydro power, airports, and mass transit.

Day to day you’ll:

  • Explore the limitations and vulnerabilities of prescriptive fire safety solutions and guidance.
  • Support the delivery of fire safety engineering scopes of work with guidance from experienced team members.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports to a high professional and presentation standard.
  • Participate in client meetings and design discussions, with support from senior colleagues.
  • Contribute to the application of fire safety guidance for straightforward design scenarios and engineering challenges.

We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. The applicable professional qualification for this role is CEng status with the Engineering Council.

About You
