We are seeking an experienced and forward‑thinking Digital Design Lead to oversee the strategic development, implementation, and maintenance of CAD and BIM standards across the Stantec Energy & Resources UK business. This role will lead the creation, governance, and continuous improvement of multi‑platform design standards, ensuring consistency and quality across a wide range of engineering disciplines and software environments.

In addition to setting strategy, the role will be hands‑on in managing and coordinating BIM/CAD modelling work tasks between UK teams and our offshore design centre in Pune, with the flexibility to undertake model authoring when required. The successful candidate will also provide leadership to a team of 3D BIM modellers, ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and efficiency of 3D modelling workflows using Autodesk Revit, Civil 3D, Inventor, and other relevant platforms.

This position plays a pivotal role in supporting complex projects across Waterpower & Dams, Transmission & Distribution, Renewable Energy, Nuclear, Waste & Generation, and Minerals & Resources, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality BIM outputs aligned with project requirements, client expectations, and industry standards.

We need to develop our BIM capabilities across Information Management and 3D Modelling, following ISO19650. As a Digital Design Lead you will be self‑motivated and responsible for supporting the team across the UK and our international regions, including our global design centres. Ultimately, we are looking for someone who can demonstrate a real passion in BIM and can influence and support others to see the value of adoption.

You will be an advocate and positive role model for digital delivery, collaborating with multi‑disciplinary engineers in local and remote offices. You will provide support through the bid, planning & mobilisation, delivery and close stages from a BIM viewpoint.

You will develop the BIM Execution Plan and subsequent Master Information Delivery Plans and Task Information Delivery Plans, ensuring everything aligns with the Exchange Information Requirements. You will work in collaboration with the Information management team to establish Common Data Environments, standards and procedures to support digital delivery in accordance with ISO 19650.

You will oversee planning and managing document / information management systems with review and approval workflows while supporting the design and modelling team through the delivery phase, providing support and guidance and checks / reviews of progress, quality and compliance.

About You

Ideally you will have a degree in a related Engineering, Architecture or related subject and have experience of working on a wide range of projects across different sectors. Experience in energy / renewable projects is useful. In addition, you will also have:

  • Experience of working in Common Data Environments using data management systems such as ACC/BIM360 and/or ProjectWise.
  • Strong experience in project delivery in accordance with ISO 19560.
  • Understanding of the benefits of different CDE’s to support collaboration and information management with experience using various client’s platforms.
  • Extensive experience in 3D design using industry standard products for Autodesk and Bentley.
  • Detailed understanding and proven experience in the generation and use of BIM Execution Plans.
  • An understanding and experience with computational and parametric design, or an interest to develop skills in this area.
  • Experience in mentoring junior staff.
  • Strong communications skills that can be adapted to suit the audience; Clients, Leadership, UK and overseas teams.
