We have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic early career Geoenvironmental Consultant within our infrastructure and environment team in Cardiff. Our team provides contaminated land, hydrogeological and ground engineering services to both the infrastructure and buildings sector. We work holistically with diverse teams to provide high-quality, value-driven services that support the construction and redevelopment of sites within the South Wales region.
Responsibilities
- Your day-to-day tasks will involve a mix of field and office-based work, with a strong initial focus on site-based work.
- You will supervise field investigations for contaminated sites and geotechnical sites, including overseeing drilling, well construction, testing, and conducting groundwater sampling and water level monitoring along with ground gas monitoring.
- Following this fieldwork, you will prepare high-quality interpretive technical reports.
- While the balance between site and office work will vary over time, the initial workload is expected to be primarily site-based.
About You
- Post-graduate experience in a geo-environmental industry.
- Experience working for a Contractor and/or geotechnical/Geoenvironmental experience would also be highly desirable.
- Good working knowledge of relevant and up to date British Standards (e.g. BS EN 5930), Industry Guidance (e.g. EA LC:RM) and NHBC Standards.
- Supervision, reporting and management of geo-environmental assignments.
- Monitoring of gas and groundwater levels and groundwater sampling.
- Liaison with sub-contractors and clients assisting in the delivery of projects.
- Technical report writing (including Desk Studies).
- Strong commitment to Health and Safety and environmental protection during ground investigations.
- Self-motivated team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- A proactive and independent thinker with an enthusiastic approach to work.
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
- CSCS card, SSSTs or IOSH equivalent site supervisor certificate, First Aid training, Cat and Genny trained.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Qualifications
- A BSc, MSc or BEng or higher qualification in a relevant subject (Environmental Science, geology, civil engineering, environmental science, and Earth Sciences).
