The team operates as part of an integrated regional business of more than x professionals across our x offices.

We work closely with our Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) and Civil & Structural (C&S) colleagues, delivering a highly collaborative approach on multidisciplinary projects and long-term frameworks. This provides graduates with valuable exposure to a broad range of disciplines, projects, and clients from the outset of their careers.

Aligned with the Government Advisory Panel's Authoritative Statement on Fire Engineering, we're committed to developing engineers with a strong understanding of fire engineering first principles and the skills to apply them effectively to real-world challenges.

As a Graduate Fire Engineer, you'll support the delivery of fire engineering projects by applying fundamental engineering principles and contributing to technical assessments, reports, and design documentation. Working under the guidance of experienced engineers, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders, attend project, design team, and client meetings, and complete project tasks within agreed timescales. You'll also take an active role in developing your technical knowledge and professional skills through mentoring, project experience, and continuous self-learning.

Key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Responsibility for completion of specifically assigned tasks within the time frame specified.
  • Drafting of technical reports of acceptable technical and presentational quality.
  • Participation in client meetings, with supervision, and discussion of the application of guidance for simple design scenarios and/or the solution to design challenges.
  • Identify the relative influence of each of the fire safety provisions they include in a design on the overall risk to the occupants of the building.
  • Expand on the scientific fundamentals of general Fire Safety Engineering topics as well as continue exploring the limitations and vulnerabilities of prescriptive solutions.
  • Develop a general understanding of the project cycles, including the mechanisms by which new work is awarded.

We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. The applicable professional qualification for this role is CEng status with the Institution of Fire Engineers.

This role will help create high-quality, sustainable and resilient buildings that deliver positive outcomes for communities and the environment. Working across a range of projects, you will support the design and delivery of safe, efficient and future-ready buildings, helping clients reduce environmental impact, enhance building performance and create spaces that improve the wellbeing of those who use them. Your work will contribute to sustainable development goals, support the efficient use of resources, and help deliver innovative solutions that meet the needs of both clients and local communities.
