To support future growth, Stannp are seeking a Senior Engineer who will act as a highly skilled hands-on engineer on site, applying advanced technical expertise across the installation, maintenance, and repair of all production machinery, including our fleet of Xerox digital printers, Fiery servers, software and networking. The Senior Engineer serves as the key technical resource within the engineering team, contributing to complex breakdowns, precision fabrication, and improvement projects, while mentoring Engineers and Digital Print Operators. This is a full time, on-site role based at our facility in Barnstaple, North Devon. You must therefore be a commutable distance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead diagnosis and resolution of complex equipment failures across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control systems
  • Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance across all production equipment, coordinating with Production on timing
  • Serve as technical escalation contact for the Xerox digital printer fleet, handling advanced and non-standard faults beyond the scope of Operators
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of printer firmware, Fiery server software, RIP workflows, and networking; manage updates and resolve connectivity issues
  • Fabricate replacement and bespoke parts in-house to a high standard using lathe, milling machine, pillar drill, and bench fitting equipment
  • Mentor Engineers and apprentices, sharing knowledge on complex repairs, fabrication, and fault-finding to build team capability
  • Deliver training to Digital Print Operators on standard breakdown recovery and routine fault clearance

Attributes

  • Advanced fault-finding across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control systems

  • Skilled with fabrication equipment including lathe, milling machine, and pillar drill
  • Strong communication skills — able to share technical knowledge clearly with less experienced team members
