Are you dependable, with an interest in welding and training? Join our trusted, family-run company est. 1957 as a Weld Technician Tester/Trainer, supporting our Vehicle Bodyshop customers across the UK to use their welding equipment effectively.
We welcome candidates from all around the outer London area from Essex to Reading or Stevenage to Crawley.
About the Role:
We’re looking for a skilled individual to become a key part of our Weld testing/training team. This field-based role will be regionally based; however, it involves travelling to customer sites nationwide, delivering high-quality training/testing for automotive technicians predominantly in body shop businesses.
A history in steel and aluminium Mig welding in any industry is preferred. Any automotive background and experience would be preferable but is not essential. You must have a hands-on approach and be able to work on your own initiative. Training will be provided so you can attain a CSWIP qualification which is required for the role. A company commercial vehicle will be provided, and you must be prepared to travel and stay away from home for 3-4 nights per week.
Candidates with any work assessment related experience in the automotive body shop or related sectors may also be considered for further training to provide ATA assessment standards for panel technicians or the opportunity to work towards this.
Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. Salary based, 40+ hours per week. Standard weekday working (no regular weekends or shift work). Regular overnight stays will be required (fully expensed).
Key Responsibilities:
- Testing welds on customer premises between 1mm and 6mm to BS 4872 standards for steel and aluminium Mig welding testing and aluminium welds to ISO standards.
- Training/advising technicians on their welding skills, training/advising technicians on the correct use of welding equipment.
- Deliver excellent customer service as a brand ambassador. Accurately complete reports and documentation.
What we’re looking for:
- Any experience in welding.
- Preferred experience from the automotive sector.
- Experience with using different Mig/Mag welding equipment in steel and aluminium.
- Full UK driving licence (essential) with no serious convictions.
- Self-motivated with a professional and friendly approach.
- Comfortable with nationwide travel and working independently.
