Stannah has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Hardware Engineer to join the Stairlift Engineering department based in Andover. This role will involve designing, developing, and maintaining electronic hardware solutions for safety-critical consumer products. Working as part of a collaborative engineering team, you will play a key role in delivering innovative and reliable hardware solutions that support the continued success of our stairlift products.
As the Senior Electronics Engineer, you will work 37 hours a week, Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 16:45, Friday 08:00 to 13:00 on a permanent basis. This role offers hybrid working of three days in the office after a successful probation period. This is a great opportunity for an experienced hardware engineer looking to work on innovative products within a market-leading organisation, while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the development of life-changing accessibility solutions.
To be successful as the Senior Hardware Engineer, it is essential that you have previous experience in the design and development of electrical and electronic systems, including PCB design and prototype testing. Experience with safety-critical systems, motor control, EMC compliance, or SIL2 development environments would be highly desirable.
- Responsibilities:
- Develop electrical and electronic hardware designs for safety-critical applications.
- Produce and maintain hardware documentation with full traceability from requirements through to implementation.
- Verify and validate designs through laboratory testing and support testing activities.
- Support DFMEA activities and product safety hazard analysis processes.
- Coach and mentor junior engineers while carrying out peer reviews and sign-off of engineering documentation.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in the design and development of electrical/electronic systems.
- Proficiency in PCB design tools and electronic prototype build and test activities.
- Strong understanding of analogue and digital electronics principles.
- Ability to interpret technical requirements, analyse data, and communicate findings effectively.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications and engineering documentation tools.
- Knowledge of microcontrollers, motor control systems, communications protocols, user interfaces, and sensor technologies is desirable.
- Understanding of the V-model development process.
- Experience with EMC compliance and safety-critical product development is advantageous.
