Overall Purpose of the Role: The Site Manager is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of works within their area of responsibility. This role ensures effective coordination of people, plant, subcontractors, and resources to maximise productivity and profitability while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer service. As a visible company ambassador, the Site Manager demonstrates SQS Vision and Values, fosters strong client relationships, and protects the company’s reputation at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project & Site Management
    • Plan, manage, and deliver projects to contractual, safety, quality, and commercial standards.
    • Coordinate site teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.
    • Monitor workloads, team performance, and operational efficiency, taking corrective action as needed.
    • Ensure all work complies with SQS policies, procedures, RAMS, NRSWA, and relevant legislation.
    • Manage variations, additional works, and on-site changes in accordance with client agreements.
    • Liaise with internal teams (e.g., Reinstatement, SHEQ) to ensure timely and compliant completion of works.
    • Maintain accurate site records, reports, and data within required deadlines.
  • SHEQ Responsibilities
    • Lead by example in promoting a culture of safety, compliance, and high-quality work.
    • Take ownership of all SHEQ matters on site and ensure hazards and near misses are reported and addressed.
    • Conduct site inspections and audits, ensuring corrective actions are completed promptly.
    • Ensure safe systems of work are followed and PPE standards are maintained.
    • Uphold environmental responsibilities in line with company values.
  • Team Leadership
    • Lead, motivate, and develop site teams to achieve operational and client objectives.
    • Ensure all operatives and contractors have up-to-date inductions, qualifications, and training.
    • Deliver regular briefings, toolbox talks, and 1:1 meetings; maintain records of these activities.
    • Promote teamwork, collaboration, and a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
    • Monitor and maintain company vehicles and equipment under your control.
