The Stanford Center on Early Childhood (SCEC), an initiative of Stanford’s Accelerator for Learning, seeks a full‑time Data Analyst I. The Analytic role focuses on managing and analyzing large datasets collected through the RAPID Survey Project, performing statistical analyses, creating data visualizations, and preparing technical reports for publication and policy audiences.

Core Duties

  • Identify and select usable data from complex patterns; generate reports, charts, graphs, and tables through querying data repositories.
  • Validate data for quality, distribute reports to agencies and researchers, and provide data interpretation as needed.
  • Collect, manage, and clean datasets using programming languages to ensure data integrity.
  • Research and reconcile data discrepancies among various information systems and reports.
  • Collaborate with data managers to define and implement data standards and common data elements.
  • Assist with identifying new data sources and methods to improve data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience or a combination of education and relevant experience in quantitative disciplines such as economics, statistics, or engineering.
  • Basic knowledge and demonstrated experience using analytical software, database management systems, reporting software, and data mining tools.
  • Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities in a deadline‑oriented environment; highly organized, flexible, and rigorous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce data in a clear and understandable manner meeting user requirements.

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Degree in psychology, education, developmental science, statistics, or related social science fields.
  • Experience in quantitative disciplines such as statistics, data science, or quantitative psychology.
  • Experience using statistical software packages (R, SPSS, etc.).
  • Experience with advanced statistics, research methodology, and survey data analysis in social science fields.
  • Strong data visualization skills.
  • Experience or interest in early childhood education research.

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting at the computer for long periods with extensive keyboarding.
  • Occasional telephone use.
  • Rarely writing by hand.

Compensation and Benefits

Expected pay range: $53,223 – $78,503 per annum. Stanford provides a comprehensive rewards package. Specific benefits for this role will be discussed during the hiring process.
