A buy-side investment firm are seeking a Windows Engineer to join its core technology function in London. This role supports a mission-critical Windows estate that underpins trading, operations, and data teams across the global business.
You’ll work closely with infrastructure, security, cloud, and end-user teams to design, build, and support a highly available Windows environment in a fast-paced trading setting. This is an ideal role for a hands-on Windows Engineer who enjoys ownership, technical depth, and working close to the business without the intensity of investment banking.

Role Overview
As a Windows Engineer, you’ll take responsibility for the stability, security, and evolution of the firm’s Windows infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting and developing the Windows Server estate across on-prem and cloud environments
- Managing Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and core identity services
- Contributing to platform upgrades, lifecycle management, and standardisation initiatives
- Automating operational tasks using PowerShell to improve reliability and efficiency
- Supporting security hardening, patching, and compliance initiatives
- Collaborating with cloud, networking, EUC, and application teams on infrastructure projects
- Troubleshooting complex Windows-related incidents in a high-availability environment
- Producing clear documentation and contributing to operational best practice
Required Experience
- Strong hands-on experience as a Windows Engineer / Infrastructure Engineer
- Deep knowledge of Windows Server (2016/2019/2022)
- Active Directory experience
- PowerShell exposure for automation and administration
- Experience with patching, monitoring, and server lifecycle management
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, authentication flows)
- Experience operating in high-availability or business-critical environments
- Comfortable working closely with both technical teams and business stakeholders
