A globally renowned quantitative hedge fund is seeking a talented Storage Developer to join its core Global Platform Engineering team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of software engineering and infrastructure - building high-performance systems that support demanding research and trading environments.

The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for evolving the firm’s storage platform - enhancing scale, reliability, and efficiency while delivering a seamless experience for internal users. From low-level storage systems to large-scale data orchestration, this is a chance to influence the foundations of a global trading operation.

The Role

This is a hands-on engineering position focused on building the underlying storage architecture that powers the firm's data-heavy workflows. The Storage Developer will work closely with other platform teams and technical stakeholders to design and implement solutions that support large-scale data processing, fast access patterns, and seamless integration with cloud and on-prem environments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing unified access layers and tools across diverse storage systems
  • Developing services that automate data movement, placement, and lifecycle management
  • Evaluating emerging storage technologies and leading integration efforts where appropriate
  • Monitoring and maintaining platform health, with a focus on performance tuning and reliability
  • Supporting internal teams by troubleshooting complex system-level issues and improving observability

The Ideal Candidate

The team is looking for someone with strong software engineering fundamentals, a practical understanding of distributed systems, and a passion for building scalable infrastructure.

Key qualifications include:

  • Solid software development experience (5+ years), ideally with backend languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
  • Greenfield storage buildout experience (on-prem/bare-metal based) within either a hedge fund or banking environment.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging systems, as well as infrastructure automation tools (ie Ansible, Terraform).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in debugging and optimizing backend performance.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) and modern storage architectures is highly advantageous.
  • Extensive experience with open-source storage tools or low-level data transfer protocols.
