A leading systematic hedge fund is seeking a Network & Security Engineer to join its infrastructure team, supporting and evolving a highly performant, security-conscious trading environment. This is a broad, hands-on role sitting across network engineering, infrastructure, and security, offering exposure to both day-to-day operations and longer-term project work. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving the firm’s network and security posture, while contributing to ongoing infrastructure growth driven by continued business expansion.
Role:
- Provide support across server, network, and security-related incidents and service requests
- Operate across a varied remit, combining BAU support, project delivery, design contribution, and security enhancement initiatives
- Manage and support core network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, VPNs, and wireless systems (predominantly Cisco-based)
- Strengthen and evolve the firm’s security posture in line with an increasingly complex threat landscape, including emerging AI-related risks
- Drive security best practices across the environment, including system hardening, patching, vulnerability remediation, and endpoint protection
- Monitor and respond to security events, performing log analysis and threat identification
- Act as a 2nd/3rd line escalation point across desktop, server, and network environments
- Produce and maintain clear documentation, including SOPs, runbooks, and architecture diagrams
Requirements:
- ~5+ years’ experience across infrastructure, networking, and security roles
- ~ Strong Windows Server and Linux (Red Hat/CentOS) experience
- ~ Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, DHCP) within Cisco environments
- ~ Hands-on experience with network security technologies (e.g. Cisco Firepower)
- ~ Strong understanding of security controls, including patch management, system hardening, monitoring, endpoint protection, and IAM
- ~ Good understanding of modern cyber security principles and evolving threat landscapes
- ~ Experience with virtualisation (VMware) and enterprise storage (SAN/NAS)
- ~ Proven ability to operate across both BAU support and project-based work
- ~ Desirable: Financial services experience and scripting/automation (PowerShell/Bash)
- ~ Additional exposure beneficial: Cisco SD-WAN, MPLS, BGP troubleshooting, and colocation connectivity
