A tech-led systematic hedge fund are seeking a Network Engineer who will focus on the design and evolution of their high-performance data centre network infrastructure underpinning large-scale research, trading, and HPC platforms. This is a highly technical role within a team focused on building next-generation network infrastructure capable of supporting demanding compute workloads, ultra-high throughput environments, and continued global growth. You'll work closely with infrastructure, research, and trading teams to deliver scalable, resilient network solutions that sit at the core of the firm's technology estate. The environment is heavily engineering-led, with a strong focus on automation, modern network architectures, and continuous improvement.

The Role:

  • Design and deliver large-scale data centre networking solutions supporting research, trading, and HPC environments
  • Develop highly resilient network architectures capable of supporting significant growth in compute and storage capacity
  • Lead the deployment and optimisation of modern spine-leaf fabrics across a globally distributed infrastructure estate
  • Support hybrid connectivity between on-premise platforms, cloud environments, and wide-area networks
  • Investigate and resolve complex performance, scalability, and reliability challenges across critical network infrastructure
  • Work closely with infrastructure, platform, and project teams on major technology initiatives
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to long-term network architecture and roadmap discussions
  • Drive increased automation across the network estate through tooling, scripting, and software-driven engineering practices
  • Partner with hardware and networking vendors to influence design decisions and technology adoption

Requirements:

  • Strong experience designing and supporting large-scale data centre network environments
  • Deep understanding of modern data centre architectures, including EVPN/VXLAN-based fabrics
  • Expert knowledge of routing, switching, and network resiliency principles
  • Experience building and operating highly available network infrastructure within performance-sensitive environments
  • Good understanding of network hardware, switch architecture, ASIC behaviour, buffering models, and throughput considerations
  • Exposure to HPC networking technologies such as RDMA, RoCE, or similar low-latency transport protocols
  • Knowledge of physical data centre infrastructure, including optics, fibre connectivity, power, cooling, and cabling standards
  • Experience supporting hybrid environments incorporating cloud networking and WAN connectivity
  • Automation experience using technologies such as Python, Go, Ansible, or similar tooling
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyse issues across multiple layers of the technology stack
  • Comfortable balancing hands-on engineering work with longer-term strategic initiatives
