A leading systematic hedge fund is seeking an AWS Network Engineer to join its Cloud Engineering function, responsible for building and evolving the core AWS networking platform underpinning a large-scale global trading environment. This team plays a critical role in enabling cloud-native development across the business, ensuring applications are deployed onto a secure, scalable, and highly performant AWS foundation. The environment is heavily automation-driven, with strong emphasis on infrastructure-as-code, observability, governance, and engineering best practice.

The Role:

  • Develop, manage, and enhance a complex global AWS network architecture supporting business-critical platforms.
  • Build and maintain scalable cloud connectivity solutions across a high-performance trading environment.
  • Utilise Infrastructure-as-Code practices to drive consistency, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to automated deployment pipelines and change management processes across the AWS estate.
  • Explore, evaluate, and onboard new AWS networking technologies and services as part of continuous platform improvement.
  • Improve network governance, monitoring, and observability capabilities across the cloud environment.
  • Ensure traffic flows and connectivity are observable and operationally effective.
  • Troubleshoot complex networking issues across AWS and third-party tooling.
  • Work closely with Security, Infrastructure, and End User teams to support ongoing platform growth and stability.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years’ experience within a cloud engineering or cloud networking role, with strong AWS focus.
  • Strong networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, BGP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP, and IPv4 subnetting.
  • Hands-on experience with core AWS networking services including VPC, Transit Gateway, Route53, PrivateLink, and Direct Connect.
  • Strong Infrastructure-as-Code and automation capability using tools such as Terraform and Python.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot networking and connectivity issues across complex AWS environments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills within cross-functional engineering teams.

Desirable experience:

  • Cloud WAN, Route53 Profiles, or AWS Lattice.
  • IPAM tooling such as AWS VPC IPAM or Infoblox.
  • AWS load balancing technologies including ALB, NLB, GWLB, and API Gateway.
  • Security tooling including WAF, Shield, and firewalls.
  • Logging and observability tooling including Flow Logs, CloudWatch, and OpenSearch.
  • IPv6 networking architectures within AWS environments.
