One of the benefits of this role is having one place of work for your entire shift, meaning there is no travelling between clients. Standon is a forward-thinking and innovative local care provider, supporting people both in their own homes and in residential care. We are committed to providing high-quality, person-centred care in a safe and supportive environment, enabling the people we support to live as independently as possible while respecting their individual wishes. The role offers a varied working pattern, so you will need to be able to work a range of shifts, with some starting as early as 7:00am and others finishing as late as 10:00pm. This may include weekends and bank holidays.
What We’re Looking For
- Compassionate – putting the people we care for at the heart of everything you do.
- Hardworking and committed – approaching your role with energy, enthusiasm and dedication.
- A team player – able to work confidently both independently and as part of a team.
- Trustworthy and reliable – dependable, punctual and consistent in your approach.
- Flexible – willing to work a fair share of mornings, afternoons, weekends and bank holidays, as well as occasionally picking up additional hours when required.
- Resilient – understanding that care work can be incredibly rewarding but can also be challenging at times.
- A good communicator – confident communicating with the people we support, their families and colleagues, with good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experienced in care – previous experience in a caring role is preferred, although full training and support will be provided.
Your Responsibilities
As a Support Worker / Carer, you will help provide high-quality, person-centred support, including:
- Providing compassionate care and support, ensuring the comfort, dignity and safety of the people we support.
- Assisting with day-to-day living, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, cleaning and other household tasks.
- Supporting with medication, in accordance with individual care plans, training and company procedures.
- Maintaining accurate care records, care plans and documentation, while following health and safety requirements.
- Building positive relationships with the people we support, their families and other professionals involved in their care.
- Supporting individuals living with Alzheimer’s and dementia, including responding appropriately to behaviours and providing meaningful and engaging activities.
- Encouraging independence and supporting people to make their own choices wherever possible.
- Taking part in ongoing training and development, including opportunities to work towards nationally recognised qualifications.
