If so, we are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team of ESOL Mentors/Trainers. In this role, you will help adults improve their English language skills and gain the confidence they need to succeed in their daily lives. You will provide instruction in a variety of settings, including classrooms and community centres.
What you'll do:
- Deliver a variety of training and one to one support designed to prepare the customer for securing employment including via work placement/trial that will lead to employment.
- Train customers in specific ESOL, employability and functional skills in line with the requirements of the local labour market, and specific employers.
- Complete relevant customer documentation in line with company procedures.
- Carry out inductions and the basic assessment of the customers to identify their transferable skills, strengths, and experience, including an ESOL assessment in literacy and numeracy.
- Provide one to one support for our customers, including developing their English skills, job search sessions, exploring the local labour market and securing interviews with employers.
- Provide ICT focused job search skills, including using PCs, Laptops and Tablets to apply for jobs online, produce electronic CVs and attach them to online job applications, completing application forms online, using online web-based job sites including Find a Job.
- Work with employers, training providers and other agencies to strengthen the service we provide to our customers, including booking them in to deliver a session on the course.
What you'll need:
- Level 2 English and Maths as a minimum.
- PTTLS or equivalent trainer/teaching qualification.
- Appropriate training qualification for example, PGCE, PGDE would be desirable.
- Experience of delivering training and/or teaching people of all ages (minimum 1-2 years).
- Experience of delivering training and/or teaching people in ESOL.
- Previous experience of working with individuals claiming income support and incapacity benefit and the barriers they face.
- Knowledge of Jobcentre Plus programmes and incentives for unemployed people.
- Full UK Driving License would be desirable. Overseas equivalent qualifications will be accepted.
