Role Description

This is a temporary, on-site Secondary Supply Teacher role based in the Greater Derby Area. The Secondary Supply Teacher will deliver pre-prepared lessons across a range of subjects, manage classroom behavior, and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment in line with school policies. Responsibilities include following individual school procedures, adapting teaching materials to meet diverse learner needs, and ensuring continuity of learning during staff absences. The teacher will complete necessary marking, provide feedback to pupils, and communicate effectively with school leaders and support staff. The role may involve working across different schools, year groups and departments, requiring flexibility in timetabling and subject coverage.

Qualifications

• Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., QTS or equivalent) and experience teaching in UK Secondary settings.
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create an inclusive, safe and engaging learning environment.
• Ability to deliver lessons from existing plans and adapt teaching to different subjects, year groups and learner needs.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with pupils, school staff and leadership teams.
• Up-to-date knowledge of secondary curriculum, assessment practices and safeguarding responsibilities.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain) and evidence of safeguarding and child protection training.
• Reliability, punctuality and flexibility to work across multiple schools in the Greater Derby Area.
• Experience in SEND or supporting pupils with additional needs is highly beneficial.
