Location: This role could be based in London, Birmingham or our Edinburgh offices with time spent working in the office and from home. For awareness, all current members of the P&S Commercial team are based in Edinburgh.

Ready to drive meaningful commercial impact? As our Commercial Retail Pensions & Investments Lead, you’ll steer pricing strategy, lead high‑profile projects and work at the heart of Pensions & Savings to deliver smarter, fairer and more innovative outcomes for our customers.
The role works closely with teams across P&S Commercial Finance and Operations, P&S Trading Channels, P&S Product, the Policyholder Investment Office (PIO), Actuarial, Capital and Balance Sheet.
- Retail product pricing: Lead the design and oversight of pricing structures and rates, ensuring they remain fair, competitive and commercially sustainable. Monitor market activity, concessions and repricing. Represent Commercial at Retail forums and provide commercial input to the P&S Pricing Committee. Present at Life Company Board level when required.
- Investment fund pricing: Lead pricing for funds across Retail Pension, Retail Life and Workplace products. Work closely with Product teams and the PIO, including on sustainability‑aligned propositions and the Group’s Future Growth Capital partnership with Schroders. Present proposals to the P&S Pricing Committee and attend the Board Investment Committee when needed.
- P&S management actions: Develop and support initiatives to improve SII Own Funds, IFRS profit and liquidity. Apply strong actuarial or analytical expertise in partnership with the Head of P&S Commercial, supported by evolving MG Alfa models.
- Project delivery: Support and deliver projects across P&S, Finance and the PIO related to Retail products, cross‑channel investment propositions and wider commercial initiatives. Undertake data analysis, develop recommendations and oversee practical implementation. Participate in Steering Committees and working groups, directly or through team delegation.
Essential: Qualified Actuary with strong quantitative and analytical skills, able to apply actuarial judgement to complex commercial, investment and regulatory topics. Strong understanding of the UK Retail Life & Pensions market, including key product features, charging structures, customer needs and the competitive landscape. Working knowledge of investment funds, including structures, charging models, governance and how investment design links to product and customer outcomes. Understanding of Solvency II / Solvency UK and IFRS, including how modelling, management actions and model changes affect capital, liquidity and profit. Advanced critical thinking and judgement, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, challenge assumptions and deliver insight‑driven solutions.
Desirable: Commercial acumen, with the ability to identify value opportunities, balance customer and shareholder outcomes and support sustainable revenue growth. Collaborative working style, partnering effectively across Product, Distribution, PIO, Finance and Actuarial. Clear and influential communication skills, able to simplify complex topics for senior stakeholders, including Executive Committees and Boards.
