Location: This role could be based from our Edinburgh, Birmingham or London offices with time spent working from home and from the office (3 days) with some travel between Phoenix offices.

The role: The Derivatives & Collateral Onboarding Associate plays an important role within the Middle Office, supporting the Asset Management Front Office by coordinating the end‑to‑end onboarding of derivative trading relationships across Standard Life entities. The role contributes to ensuring that operational, legal, regulatory and system requirements are met, including KYC, legal documentation (ISDA, CSA, GMRA, CDEA), EMIR delegated reporting, variation and initial margin requirements, and counterparty setup across internal systems and external trading platforms. The Associate works closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including Front Office, Legal, Compliance and Risk teams, as well as external custodians, counterparties and vendors. The role requires strong organisational skills and the ability to build effective working relationships to help prioritise onboarding requests, resolve queries and provide clear, timely updates to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinating the end‑to‑end onboarding of new and existing derivative trading counterparties.
- Acting as a key point of contact and developing subject‑matter expertise in derivative and collateral onboarding, supporting stakeholders by providing updates and helping to resolve queries.
- Coordinating KYC and reverse‑KYC requirements, documentation requests, screening and ad‑hoc queries across relevant teams.
- Building and maintaining effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external counterparties, helping to ensure clear prioritisation of in‑flight onboarding requests.
- Supporting the setup and ongoing maintenance of counterparty, agreement and portfolio configurations across Aladdin (Deco, Compliance Workbench, Counterparty Config).
- Overseeing counterparty setup on trading and confirmation platforms (FXALL, TradeWeb, DTCC, MarkitWire).
- Coordinating derivative legal documentation (ISDA, CSA, GMRA, CDEA, IM CSD, ACA) with internal and external legal counsel.
- Maintaining accurate derivatives and collateral agreement data, including oversight of IM thresholds, MTAs and EMIR delegated reporting requirements.
- Identifying issues in a timely manner, applying sound judgement around escalation, and ensuring risks are clearly communicated to management.
What are we looking for?
- Experience working in a Derivatives and/or Collateral Onboarding role within the Asset Management industry.
- Demonstrated understanding of derivative products, associated legal documentation (ISDA, CSA, GMRA, CDEA) and margin requirements (VM and IM).
- Experience supporting KYC and due‑diligence processes, with an understanding of associated documentation requirements.
- Demonstrated knowledge of operational and regulatory requirements relating to derivatives.
- Strong analytical skills, with a focus on accuracy and quality in data management.
- Experience managing stakeholder interactions and contributing to the effective delivery of processes and tasks.
