Job Type: Permanent

Location: This role could be based from either our Telford or Birmingham offices with time spent working from home and from the office (3 days) with travel expected between offices.

The Team: Cash Management & Oversight is a key function within RS&AM. It has wide ranging accountability ensuring operational control of investment activities, supporting the Group and AM governance framework, and delivery of investment reporting. The team lead activities across the Phoenix custodial and operational account universe for policyholder, shareholder, ERIP and Operational bank accounts. Responsible for the execution of payments, by Chaps and BACS, and ensuring that there is sufficient liquidity for trades to settle.

The role: The Cash Management Specialist role is for an SME in overseeing and optimising cash management activities within the organisation. You will challenge and determine new processes and procedures, and support business queries and engage in a consistently changing environment. You will help lead in ensuring the team effectively monitors cash balances and funding instructions and support a large amount of change within the team including new systems, new fund managers, new custodians, new fund launches and asset transfers.

Group activity:

  • Daily 'Sweep' of Shareholder cash balances into (Blackrock / ASI) liquidity products.
  • Funding of AM Private Debt transactions.
  • Funding of Group dividends.
  • Interfund Settlements / NPF Drawdowns.
  • Liquidity Fund / Cash Exposure Management.
  • Shareholder Overdraft Management.
  • Managing shortfalls / surpluses within Treasury accounts.
  • Execution of 3rd party payments.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support end‑to‑end daily cash management activities, including cash projections, liquidity monitoring, and payment/trade processing across custodian systems.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for cash‑related business queries, proactively challenging data, resolving issues, and addressing root causes with internal teams and third‑party providers.
  • Oversee and optimise cash management activities, including daily cash balance reporting and analysis of third‑party managed processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement and change, contributing to the design, build and testing of new processes, systems, fund launches, asset transfers and onboarding of new fund managers.
  • Ensure strong risk and control standards through adherence to procedures, identification of control improvements, and ownership of procedure documentation.
  • Support planning, coordination and delivery of team outputs, including training design and delivery.
  • Provide oversight of team activities, including weekly planning, allocation of responsibilities and acting as a key escalation point.
  • Lead stakeholder, client and vendor engagement to support effective delivery and relationship management.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience in Custodian / Investment Operations industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of trade lifecycles, FX, MMD, Bond settlements, Funding.
  • Proven ability to effectively producing process maps / documentation for review.
  • Previous cash management experience, either within an asset management or life insurance organisation.
  • Proficient in inputting and processing payments on custodian systems or equivalent and experience approving large volume / value instructions for execution.
  • Experience of operating and improving new or existing processes.
