Job Type: Permanent

Location: Edinburgh (3 days per week in the office). All our roles are open to part-time, job-share and other types of flexibility. We will discuss what is important to you and balancing this with business requirements during the recruitment process.

Salary: From £60,800 dependent upon experience plus an indicative bonus range of 16% to 32%, private medical cover, 38 days annual leave, excellent pension, 12x salary life assurance, income protection, 3x volunteering days and much more.

The Team: Our Investment Operations team are responsible for the administration of around 5,000 unit-linked and with-profits funds with over 17,000 pricing series linked to them. On a daily basis, Investment Operations are responsible for oversight of fund accounting and unit pricing, unit matching and box management, trade and settlement processing, validating and overseeing instructions from the Portfolio Management team, and maintaining the data that underpins all our fund-related activities.

The Role: You will need to apply your technical and leadership skills to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure Investment Operations are represented on a key project migrating customer policies to a new policy administration platform. You will be the first point of contact for all project activity and will be required to produce detailed requirements, test scope and impact assessments. In addition to the preparation of such documentation you will be required to present to, and achieve sign off from, senior business leaders. You’ll need to be able to build on your existing investment operations expertise to quickly become a technical expert on how we administer our funds – we’ll make sure you’re fully supported on this. It’s critical that you take the lead and challenge how things are done, finding solutions to problems, and guiding others around you to do the same.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Key Stakeholder Management – Take responsibility for engaging with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers. Manage service issues to resolution.
  • Plan, oversee and own team deliverables – Ensure accurate and timely deliverable of the team’s activities, applying specialist knowledge as required.
  • Manage project plans and impact assessments to ensure Investment Operations requirements are both understood and delivered.
  • Strategic input – Support the Investment Operations leadership team in identifying strategic change opportunities, develop collateral to support and influence decision makers on future direction of Investment Operations.

What are we looking for?

  • In-depth knowledge of Investment Operations functions covering unit-linked fund administration processes (including unit pricing, unit matching, box management and trading).
  • Detailed understanding of Box Management and how customer instructions flow through end-to-end architecture.
  • Understanding of mainframe applications (FM desirable).
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and developing subject matter experts.
  • Comprehensive understanding of fund hierarchies.
  • Proven ability to communicate complicated technical content to stakeholders at all levels.
