Job Type: Fixed Term Contract (9 months)
Location: This is a hybrid role; you will be required to go into your local office from time to time (Edinburgh, Birmingham or Telford), but you will have the flexibility to work predominantly from home should you want to.

The role: We’re looking for an expert Employee Relations Consultant to lead and deliver complex organisational transformation programmes. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, you’ll shape, guide, and execute people‑related change with precision, professionalism, and legal integrity.
- Lead redundancy and consultation activity, including business case development, selection criteria, redeployment strategies, and overall colleague experience.
- Partner with HRBPs and senior leaders to shape people‑led change, ensuring a high‑quality colleague experience within a fair, safe, and compliant framework.
- Provide expert, risk‑based advice rooted in strong knowledge of employment law, case law, regulation, and best practice to enable clear, confident decision‑making.
- Act as the lead consultant on ER implications of organisational change, ensuring decisions are commercially sound, compliant, and consistently applied.
- Coach leaders through complex and sensitive change, building capability and supporting decisive, informed leadership.
- Monitor evolving legislation and case law, proactively adjusting processes and advising stakeholders on required changes.
You’ll Partner Closely With:
- People Leaders across the business
- HR Directors, Business Partners, and the wider People Leadership Team
- Other HR centres of excellence such as Reward, Payroll and Talent Acquisition
- External providers including our preferred outplacement support provision
What are we looking for?
- Track record of leading impactful redundancy and restructuring programmes, delivering fair, compliant, and effective consultation and selection outcomes.
- Demonstrable expertise in UK employment law, with the ability to apply it confidently and pragmatically.
- Experience navigating regulatory requirements is advantageous but not essential.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing ability, shaping decisions and guiding HRBPs and senior leaders through complex organisational change.
- Delivers clear, confident, risk‑based ER advice that enables leaders to act decisively during transformation.
