Job Type: Permanent

Location: This role could be based in either our Birmingham, Edinburgh or London offices on a hybrid basis with a 60/40 split of time spent working in the office and at home.

Flexible working: All of our roles are open to part‑time, job‑share and other types of flexibility. We will discuss what is important to you and balancing this with business requirements during the recruitment process.

Salary and benefits: Up to £45,000 (depending on experience) plus an indicative bonus range of 16% to 32%, private medical cover, 38 days annual leave, excellent pension, 12x salary life assurance, career breaks, income protection, 3x volunteering days and much more.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing subject matter expertise to internal staff on data protection matters through day‑to‑day management of the Team mailbox.
  • Supporting the delivery of and contributing to the development of training materials and awareness campaigns.
  • Assisting with oversight and assessment of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), supporting with the management of data subject rights requests and complaints, and assisting in monitoring compliance with data protection laws and internal policies.
  • Contributing to the oversight and risk governance reporting of the Group’s compliance with data protection.
  • Helping with the investigation and documentation of data breaches and escalating as required.
  • Supporting the creation of MI reports and dashboards for the Data Protection Managers and Data Protection Leadership Team.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • You’ll have experience in a similar role demonstrating good knowledge in risk management or regulatory compliance.
  • You’ll have good knowledge and understanding of UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and data protection principles and a working knowledge of information security principles and data governance.
  • Action‑oriented attitude, eager to learn and develop in data protection with an ability to work autonomously.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines, analytical mindset with good problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills to be effective and work collaboratively with stakeholders across different levels within an organisation.
  • Data protection certifications (e.g., BCS Foundation Certificate in Data Protection) would be desirable.
