Who are we? We’re Standard Life, a retirement specialist focused entirely on retirement savings and income. We champion the belief that everyone’s journey to and through retirement can be better, and for more than 200 years, we’ve been helping our customers plan and prepare for their financial futures.
The role: You will balance hands-on design, strategic thinking and collaboration. No two days are quite the same. One day you might be facilitating workshops to uncover customer needs, the next you're conducting research, refining digital journeys, or helping a squad make better design decisions. Going beyond creating wireframes and prototypes, you will help shape the direction of products and services, ensuring customer needs, business goals and technical constraints are considered together. You will build strong relationships with stakeholders, advocate design and research principles, challenge assumptions constructively, and use evidence and insight to influence decisions. A key part of the role is supporting others in the UX team. Sharing knowledge, providing feedback, and helping to raise the quality of research and design across the team. Ultimately, it's about making complex problems simpler and creating experiences that genuinely improve our customers' lives and their financial outcomes.
What We’re Looking For:
- Must have experience of React Native interfaces
- Strong track record of designing intuitive digital experiences across websites, secure portals, and native iOS and Android applications, with a focus on accessibility and inclusion
- Proven experience leading end-to-end user-centred design (UCD) activities, including research planning, methodology selection, user research and insight generation
- Demonstrated expertise in interaction design, applying emerging technology trends and AI tools to create effective, user-focused design solutions
- Experience presenting research findings, design recommendations and UCD principles to stakeholders, influencing design decisions and business outcomes
- Proven ability to coach and develop colleagues while delivering research and design activities within regulatory and legislative frameworks
We Want To Hire The Whole Version Of You. We are committed to ensuring that everyone feels accepted and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. If your experience looks different from what we’ve advertised and you believe that you can bring value to the role, we’d love to hear from you. If you require any adjustments to the recruitment process, please let us know so we can help you to be at your best.
