About the Team: The Partnerships team at Standard Chartered Ventures (SCV) is responsible for three key areas: Originating, negotiating, and executing new Joint Venture and Co-investment opportunities; driving strategic partnerships for portfolio companies; and generating commercial/revenue opportunities for our ventures through commercial ‘clients’ & partners of our ventures.

Role Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and senior strategic individual to join our team as the Partnerships lead covering the UK/EU market. The role exists to develop new origination opportunities with c-suite and senior leaders in the region, ultimately adding to pipeline and conversion of that pipeline into material outputs for new or existing ventures. The role will directly contribute to revenue origination, fintech/venture/partnership capital ecosystem development, brand presence, strategic partnerships, and long-term franchise value of SC Ventures. Reporting directly to the SCV Partnership Lead, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role as the sole partnerships’ representative in a key market for SCV and the Group. The individual is expected to come with their own book of c-suite, venture studios, venture capital, family office contacts. Importantly, the candidate will assist the Lead for global activities & strategic initiatives, including activation of another key market – Americas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build the strategic vision for the UK and Europe region across the three key pillars of the Partnerships team.
  • Identify, map and cultivate relationships with corporates, financial institutions, technology providers, strategic investors, venture capital firms & family offices.
  • Convert existing contacts into meaningful relationships with SCV portfolio and pipeline of opportunities.
  • Convert visibility into commercial outcomes. Target SC bank clients and external prominent players across industries.
  • Support pitches for strategic proposals in the UK/Americas in collaboration with global client engagement team & lead.
  • Bring creation circle to the UK/Americas, explore co-creation events with key clients, tackle challenges, secure joint ventures.
  • Pipeline management – disciplined and structured follow up, relationship nurturing.
  • Develop senior-level connections (CXO / Business unit heads / Innovation leaders) within target partner organizations.
  • Champion SC Ventures brand and market presence, representing our strategy, key differentiators/capabilities & value proposition.
  • Develop and execute on a market activation plan for Americas, including working with key functional stakeholders across the SCV platform and SCB Americas.
  • Own and lead the UK and broader regional ecosystem/partnership strategy, aligned with firm-wide growth priorities and partnership themes.
  • Define multi-year market entry and scaling roadmap, including priority sectors, partner archetypes and strategic bets.
  • Serve as the senior accountable leader for UK commercial & venture outcomes, with end to end ownership from strategy through execution.
  • Own senior level commercial targets, including pipeline development, revenue conversion and strategic account growth.
  • Lead flagship initiatives, strategic roundtables to increase institutional brand presence.
  • KPIs will be measured around senior-level relationships (and quality of corporate) established in UK/Americas, new commercial and strategic partnerships originated & formed, revenue origination, joint venture opportunities progressed through various stages, growth in brand visibility and inbound partner interest.
  • Ownership and maintenance of sales pipeline & Objectives and Key Results (‘OKRs’) for the region.

  • Internal Relationship, Venture Building and Innovation teams.
  • External Client ecosystem, CVC’s, Fintechs / Startups, Family offices, corporates etc.
  • Key functional teams (e.g., Legal, Corporate Development, Compliance, Technology, Marketing, Governance).
  • SC Ventures Admin/Management team.

Reporting & System Management

Escalate any issues and risks, as appropriate so that they can be appropriately tracked and managed.

The working environment demands an ability to work in a fast-paced environment, while providing a quality client service and will require someone who can cope well under pressure. Understanding of ventures business and complexities to business model.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience with Wealth management, private banking, engagement, and strategic partnerships.
  • Strong origination capabilities and ability to develop and optimize origination channels.
  • Strong understanding of banking products and awareness of new business models related to banking and financial services, financial technology.
  • Strong understanding and ability to develop financial models, especially for early stage wealth-tech startups.
  • Disciplined execution - ability to follow-through on agreed actions in a timely manner.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, time-management, research and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of Human-Centered Design, Venture Building and Lean-start-up methodologies is an advantage.

Qualifications

  • Subject matter knowledge and experience 8+ years in Wealth & Retail banking, corporate partnerships/strategic partnership, management consulting/origination role.
  • Experience in a Family office / Corporate Venture Capital / Corporate development is a plus.
  • Broad understanding of Banking and Wealth / Retail products.
  • Connected to start-up / VC / existing book of clients / CVC landscape is a plus.
  • Experience in technology / Financial institutions & large global organization.
  • Existing network in the PvB/UHNW will be advantageous including single & multifamily offices.
