Global Head, Markets FO Risk & Trader Tools is accountable for the strategic direction, engineering leadership, delivery and operational integrity of a global platform estate supporting front‑office risk management, trader tooling, risk analytics and control‑critical workflows across financial markets. The role leads a large global organisation and owns technology capabilities fundamental to trading control, decision support, risk transparency, resilience and regulatory confidence. This Managing Director opportunity is based in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Intraday risk – technology platforms and workflows that provide timely visibility of front‑office risk exposures, limit usage, sensitivities and risk movements during the trading day, enabling informed decision‑making, effective control and rapid escalation of material changes.
  • Lifecycle events – platforms supporting the generation and reporting of trade lifecycle events, including payments, barrier and early termination events.
  • Market Risk Batch – batch processing services that generate risk measures, sensitivities, scenario outputs and reporting datasets used for risk oversight, control, analytics and downstream consumption, with strong emphasis on timeliness, completeness, performance and control integrity.
  • Deal Stores – core trade and position data stores that underpin front‑office risk, trader tooling and downstream processes, ensuring accurate, controlled and accessible representation of trade populations, lifecycle state, positions and associated reference attributes across products and businesses.
  • Quant Interface (Cortex) – technology interfaces and services connecting front‑office platforms with quantitative libraries, models and analytics, enabling controlled integration of pricing, risk and scenario capabilities into trader and risk workflows while supporting performance, transparency and model‑consumption governance.
  • Market & Product Data – services and controls supporting the sourcing, distribution, quality and governance of market, static and product‑related data required for front‑office risk calculation, trader decision support, analytics and control processes across the platform estate.
  • Business growth and innovation – key to this role is developing a risk technology stack that supports rapid product innovation, working with Quants and front‑to‑back teams to integrate new payoffs and enable dynamic scaling through optimal infrastructure utilisation.

Strategy

Set end‑to‑end technology strategy, shape the platform estate in line with business priorities, lead strategic change, drive simplification and component reuse, maintain a modernisation roadmap, and provide executive leadership on material platform issues.

AI & Innovation

Provide senior leadership for AI engineering, support cross‑market innovation in automation of EOL and CVE remediation, deliver tangible AI‑enabled productivity gains, and help business teams understand and articulate the possibilities of AI.

Business

Act as the senior technology partner to Markets and key stakeholders, promote a product‑led operating model, lead investment planning, and manage vendor relationships to secure commercial, service and control outcomes.

Processes

Embed disciplined engineering, Agile and DevOps practices, ensure compliance with testing and release processes, define engineering standards, and drive continuous improvement in platform stability and operational readiness.

People & Talent

Provide enterprise‑scale technology leadership, attract and develop high‑calibre talent, build high‑performing teams, promote diversity and inclusion, and establish clear career pathways and succession plans.

Risk Management

Maintain assurance of acceptable risk and control standards, act decisively on weaknesses, embed internal and legal controls, and balance business performance with risk and control considerations.

Governance

Participate in architecture, design and governance forums, ensure compliance with regulatory and business conduct standards, manage delivery scope, challenge constructively, and represent the platform in relevant forums.

Qualifications

Education: Engineering, Computer Science, Quantitative Discipline or equivalent practical experience.

Experience: Extensive senior leadership experience in banking technology, preferably within financial markets, with a strong track record leading large global engineering organisations, shaping technology strategy, delivering complex platform transformation and managing control‑critical services. Deep knowledge of modern engineering practices, platform architecture, data and cloud‑enabled delivery models is required.
