The Business Planning Manager plays a critical role in supporting the Group Public & Regulatory Affairs (GPRA) function by coordinating strategic, operational, and people‑related initiatives across Strategy & Talent (S&T) and the wider Group. Working closely with the Global Heads of GPRA, Group Strategy, and other senior stakeholders, the role is responsible for driving the execution of GPRA’s strategic agenda, managing budgets and resources, and ensuring strong governance, risk oversight, and stakeholder alignment. This role requires a highly collaborative individual with strong strategic acumen, execution discipline, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex, global environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Global Head of GPRA in defining, implementing, and delivering the function’s vision, strategy, and priorities.
- Ensure alignment with the Global Head of Strategy and the Group’s broader strategic agenda.
- Support delivery and execution of GPRA’s strategic and operational objectives.
- Set and manage the annual agenda for key stakeholder meetings, including priorities, people activities, actions, and follow‑ups.
- Own and manage GPRA’s scorecard and deliverables, ensuring timely completion and escalation of risks or issues.
- Deliver the function’s cost budget, identifying opportunities for efficiency and optimised resource deployment.
- Lead and contribute to ad‑hoc strategic projects for joint initiatives between GPRA and Group Strategy.
- Support the Policy and Strategic Insights team within GPRA in the systematic analysis of relevant global policy trends, position development and engagement strategy.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in business planning, strategy execution, or COO‑style roles within financial services.
- Strong track record managing complex initiatives across conduct, people, risk, projects, and change.
- Demonstrated expertise in organisation design and operating model development.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, optimise resources, and drive cost efficiencies.
- Strong project management capability with experience delivering strategic initiatives in a matrixed environment.
- Expertise in the analysis of public policy trends/issues relevant to financial services, and related engagement with public sector / platforms.
- High level of commercial acumen, analytical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualification required.
- Advanced degree (e.g., MBA) or relevant professional certifications preferred.
- Experience in Global Policy and/or Regulatory Affairs, Strategy, or COO functions is highly desirable.
