We’re looking for a proactive and commercially aware Middle Office Director to join our team and play a key role in strengthening the risk and control environment across the Markets business. This is an exciting opportunity for a risk professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys working across business, operations, compliance, audit and risk teams. The successful candidate will support the identification, assessment and mitigation of risks, help embed robust controls into day‑to‑day business activity, and ensure the business remains aligned with regulatory expectations and internal standards. You’ll be at the heart of driving a strong risk culture, improving frameworks, supporting regulatory engagement, and partnering with stakeholders across Markets and CIB to deliver practical, effective and sustainable risk management outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide risk oversight across the Markets business, with a particular focus on Business & Client Solutions
- Identify, assess, monitor and escalate key risks across relevant jurisdictions
- Support the design and ongoing enhancement of risk frameworks and controls to ensure they remain fit for purpose
- Partner with business, operations, compliance, audit and risk teams to manage incidents, events and regulatory matters effectively
- Lead or support risk event management, including escalation, logging and stakeholder communication
- Act as a key contact point for internal audits, including preparation, coordination and follow‑through on actions
- Deliver and refresh RCSA submissions, support risk profile reviews and drive escalations to relevant governance forums
- Oversee key areas of service and control management, including BCP, TPRM, IGAs and policy implementation
- Help embed strong conduct, governance and ethical standards across the business
- Contribute to ongoing process improvement and the integration of risk management into BAU activity
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong experience in operational risk management within a Markets, Banking or Financial Services environment
- Solid understanding of risk frameworks, controls, incident management and governance
- Experience with RCSA, audit engagement, risk event logging and regulatory‑related processes
- Knowledge of relevant Markets regulation, such as EMIR, MiFID, Dodd‑Frank or similar
- Understanding of operations / back‑office processes and associated control environments
- Experience supporting resilience and supplier oversight activities such as BCP and TPRM
- Strong process improvement capability with the ability to translate policy into practical BAU processes
