Job Summary
This Associate Director role within Standard Chartered's Transaction Banking team offers a distinctive opportunity to manage and expand client relationships across cash and trade banking solutions for a diverse portfolio of European-based corporate clients. The role is pivotal in fostering new-to-bank opportunities, elevating product engagement, and delivering tailored transactional banking solutions including cash management, trade finance, and foreign exchange products.
Working collaboratively with Corporate and Investment Banking, product specialists, implementation experts, and client management teams, you will serve as the primary interface for your clients, ensuring comprehensive solution delivery that supports their complex financial operations in markets across Europe. Beyond direct client engagement, the position demands a strategic approach to market understanding, risk compliance, and revenue optimisation, allowing you to play a central role in shaping the transactional banking landscape at Standard Chartered. This role is ideal for professionals eager to leverage deep industry knowledge and relationship management skills in a dynamic and multicultural banking environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage assigned client relationships from a Transaction Banking cash and trade perspective.
- Develop a strong understanding of each client's business, geographic footprint, buying centres and decision-making processes.
- Lead Transaction Banking opportunity development in partnership with the Corporate and Investment Banking team.
- Identify explicit and implied client needs and translate them into relevant cash, trade and transactional foreign exchange solutions.
- Develop and deliver client proposals and pitches in cooperation with relevant product and structured solutions teams.
- Build relationships with cash management, trade, procurement and treasury decision-makers.
- Manage opportunities through implementation and revenue realisation.
- Coordinate document negotiation, internal approvals and relevant credit and compliance requirements.
- Monitor the utilisation of trade limits and support appropriate follow-up where implementation or servicing issues arise.
- Maintain accurate sales pipeline and account planning commitments.
- Follow applicable sales, pricing, risk, conduct and governance requirements.
- Work with Client Management and other relevant teams to ensure that post-sales service issues are addressed appropriately.
- Build an understanding of relevant local regulations and industry developments.
- Represent Standard Chartered and Transaction Banking professionally in interactions with clients and external stakeholders.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in cash management, trade finance, or a closely related Transaction Banking environment.
- Strong understanding of corporate client needs, buying centres and decision-making processes.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage client relationships.
- Knowledge of cash management, trade finance and transactional FX solutions.
- Ability to identify commercial opportunities and develop relevant client solutions, proposals and pitches.
- Strong sales pipeline, account planning and revenue management capabilities.
- Effective communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to coordinate delivery across product, coverage, implementation, operations, risk and compliance teams.
- Strong attention to risk, conduct and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Degree-level education.
- Fluency in English.
- Fluency in Chinese, specifically Mandarin.
