To support Global Markets International team in defining, adapting and embedding overall strategic and operational objectives through the provision of high-quality advisory, analytical, project management and administrative capability and represent the Business to internal and external stakeholders to optimize operational efficiency and business continuity. The role will operate across a Three Pillar Model to manage the full scope of the Global Markets (GM) International function:
- Run the Bank (BAU Business): Drive commercial performance, maintain the operating rhythm, and track pipeline visibility across the business.
- Protect the Bank (Controls): Act as the first line of defense by owning governance, action tracking, and the management of the broker-dealer license perimeter.
- Change the Bank (Transformation): Deliver strategic initiatives, including geographic expansion, new desk scoping (FX, Rates, Credit), and the development of the digitization roadmap.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Architecture: Design MIS frameworks and revenue targets across multiple geographies and products, including FX, rates, credit, and equities.
- Regulatory Leadership: Monitor regulatory developments across FCA, SEC/FINRA, and DFSA to translate complex changes into actionable business strategies.
- Ecosystem Enablement: Direct technology and infrastructure partners to deliver automated dashboards, risk systems, and booking models.
- Stakeholder Matrix: Act as the primary partner for GM Trading Desks, IB Origination, and Credit Distribution teams, ensuring global alignment with the Head of GM International.
Experience
- Deep understanding of Global Markets, local regulatory requirements, operating model, business economics, balance sheet usage and revenue drivers - a person who can partner credibly with Front Office areas from day one.
- Tenure: 10–15+ years in Markets/Global Markets.
- Background: Proven track record in Business Management, COO, or Strategy Enablement roles, specifically navigating a complex matrix organization.
- Expertise: Direct experience with multi-jurisdictional regulatory frameworks and navigating license perimeter questions.
- Technical Edge: Expert level proficiency in project management, operational planning, and risk/reward thinking.
- Market Knowledge: While not essential, experience with African markets and an Africa-anchored franchise is a significant advantage.
- Education: A degree in Business Commerce, Finance, Banking, or a related field is required.
- Ability to travel to markets is a requirement.
